South Lakes Foyer, Kendal

South Lakes Foyer in Kendal offers accommodation for young people aged between 16 and 25 who are actively working towards achieving their goals. South Lakes Foyer consists of our sites at Miller Court and Stricklandgate. Our offer combines supporting customers with their housing needs with supporting them to achieve their own personal aims. We have a team of dedicated, experienced staff, including night workers, to assist the young people and help them to maintain their tenancies. Whilst residing here, young people will have a first class experience of flexible, personalised support and will have lots of opportunities to have fun, learn how to manage a home and live independently.

South Lakes Foyer offers two types of temporary accommodation. All the flats at South Lakes Foyer are fully self-contained, offering stepping stones towards independent living.

We have 12 flats which are commissioned by Supporting People. These are dedicated to young people aged 16 to 25 years who would benefit from initial support to develop their tenancy skills and work towards living independently. Each of the young people who live in these flats is allocated an Independent Living Worker who will regularly work with them to focus on their individual talents and aspirations.

Our remaining eight flats are at Stricklandgate and are dedicated to young people aged 18 to 25 who are engaged in successful employment, training or education. The young people who live in these flats have access to ad-hoc, self-directed mentoring from our Independent Living Workers in areas such as housing and wellbeing. All young people are also welcome and encouraged to attend our interactive in-house training and upskilling sessions.

As part of our personalised pathway approach, young people who initially move into our supported flats across South Lakes Foyer have the opportunity to move on to one of our reduced support, longer term flats at Stricklandgate (with support in the form of self-directed mentoring opportunities). This approach enables young people to enjoy increasing levels of independence before moving on to more permanent accommodation.
